Japanese Encephalitis mapA dangerous disease but vaccination is possible.

Japanese Encephalitis (JE) is transmitted through the bite of Culex mosquitoes in areas where humans, pigs and (water) birds live closely together.
The positive aspect about JE is that the disease is rare. However, the disease is present in nearly the whole of Southeast Asia, especially in the more rural areas.
The disease takes between 1-2 weeks to develop and symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, headaches, confusion and difficulties with moving. If the disease is neglected, brain swelling and coma can occur, which could lead to death. No cure is available once the patient has developed the disease.
To prevent getting infected with the Japanese Encephalitis virus, a vaccine, the JE-vaccine, should be obtained prior to getting ill. Two doses are to be taken within one month.

Japanese Encephalitis is spread by mosquitoes of the Culex species. Therefore our BG-MosquitaireCO2 is the best defense against these mosquitoes.
